Elizabeth retired after a career in dentistry and palliative care. She brings volunteer experience from working on other boards including Mattawa General Hospital, Minor Hockey Executive and Community Care to name a few. Elizabeth brings her interest in politics and current events to our Board. Her goals for the board are around policy development and long term planning.
Marg retired from a 32 year career at our veneer plant where she was the union steward, she also worked many years at the family Mattawa Golf Course business. Marg is a dedicated member of the Mattawa Royal Canadian Legion. Her goals for the board is providing financial due diligence.
Michelle has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Welfare and has worked within the field of Social Services for 20+ years. Her combination of education and experience has provided the Board with a broad understanding of social service delivery and the impact that poverty has on the lives of women. For the past 17 years Michelle has worked for the District of Nipissing Social Services Board both at the front line and management level. Her current role is the Director of Employment and Social Services. Michelle’s main goals for the Board are to ensure that all women fleeing violence have access to a safe and supportive environment; that advocacy efforts for an increased financial commitment to the shelter system continues at the political level and that public education on violence against women to reduce stigma and increase understanding remains an important part of the shelters work.
Bonnie retired from her position of Director of Social Services with the District of Nipissing Social Services Board. Her education and experience in Social Sciences, Human Resource Management and conflict resolution assists the board in reviewing and advising on policy and procedures. She has sat on Provincial Boards to assist in developing policies beneficial to those involved in Social Service Programs. Bonnie’s goals for the MWR Board are to continue to develop strategic planning processes and engage the Board in Governance and Policy training to allow for sound decision making and recommendations.
Louise has a Bachelor of Arts in French and English Canadian Lit and has spent over 45 years in the education field. Along with her professional experience Louise has sat on and chaired many boards throughout our community Ontario Heritage Foundation, Association of the Francophone School Boards of Ontario, Mattawa Hospital Board, Ontario Council of regents for Colleges and Technology to name a few. Her goals for the MWRC Board include good governance, risk management , strategic thinking and planning.
Danielle brings a background in child and youth services with experience in youth detention centre’s, treatment centre’s, foster homes and outreach programs to name a few. Her frontline work experience and knowledge is valuable to the policy making decisions the board work on a monthly basis. Her goals for the board include helping the MWRC succeed and support for the staff and residents, she is also interested in projects to help the Shelter move forward.
Beverly has been the Executive Director of MWRC for over 30 years. In this time she has managed to maintain an empathetic supportive environment for women and children escaping violence. She has also taught Family Violence courses at Canadore College for Social Services & Mental Health & Addictions students. She has sat on provincial and local boards ensuring women’s voices in our community are heard and respected.
